"What's the difference between 'AI' and 'GPT 3'?"
EXPAND= Closerscopy's own AI (it used to be called Instruct as well as “AI” before the name change with the newest version of CC). Because it's using CC's AI, it does not face the same limitations that the GPT3 option does. GPT-3 must abide by the rules of Open AI (the company behind most of the AI writing tools out there).
EXPAND (GPT 3) = as mentioned above, this is GPT-3 AI from Open AI (it used to be called Expand and “GPT 3” before the name change in the latest version of Closerscopy). It may give you slightly better output, but it is usually going to be shorter in length than Closerscopy's AI and it may occasionally tell you that what you're trying to generate is "sensitive" and refuse to give you an output. This is because Open AI has content filters that flag things that is deemed inappropriate.
So why do we have both?
A while back, "Expand" (previously called "Instruct" and “AI”) didn't exist in the right click options. So we used to only have what is now known as "Expand GPT 3" (previously called "Expand" and “GPT 3”).
"Expand GPT 3," like its name, is based on the GPT-3 AI technology from Open AI. Open AI has strict restrictions and limitations about how their API is used, so developers have to abide by Open AI's rules and wait on approval for anything they want to implement in their tools. In addition, there is a content filter in place which is why you may see a notice saying that this "text is sensitive" when you try to generate output related to topics that Open AI doesn't want you to write about.
So rather than just relying on Open AI like many other tools, Nico started working on Closerscopy's own AI, which would not have to follow the limitations and restrictions of Open AI.
And that is how/why "Expand" (or "Instruct"/“AI”) was eventually added into the right click options. So that is why we have both options.
Do they function differently? Not really. They work similarly, it's just that you get a choice between which AI model to use. Closerscopy's own "Expand" or Open AI's "Expand GPT 3."
So which one should you use?
If you're just expanding upon text that you've written - then you can use either. Just try both and see which result you like better. There is no rule. Just go with whatever output you prefer! However, if you're writing about topics like marijuana, adult content, etc. then you'll probably want to go with "Expand" since you may run into Open AI's content filter if you use "Expand GPT 3."
For custom template use - I always use "Expand" since Templates were originally designed to specifically work with “Expand." It also allows for a longer output length than GPT-3. (for more about this, check this page -Custom Frameworks/Templates )
Here's a little walk through of using the Right Click options to expand upon existing text. *NOTE: I refer to these options as “AI” and “GPT 3” in this video, but they’re now called “Expand” and “Expand GPT 3,” respectively.
